A
collaboration, akin to Silver Buckle's 1992 Exquisite Corpse. Thirty-two
contemporary book artists and letterpress printers from across the
U. S. each designed and printed 100 copies of the head or tail section
of a horse, with specifications that the parts meet in the middle.
The result, a la the Surrealists, is a an array of imaginative styles.
Prints can be arranged and reconfigured to create hundreds of unusual
and fanciful equines. Contributing presses include Flying Fish,
Land Marks, Street of Crocodiles, Blue Heron, Pressious Jade, Robin
Price, Tiramisu, et al. Housed in a cloth-covered, drop-spine box
with inner tray divided by a notched wall to separate heads from
tails. Edition of 100 of which 60 are available for sale. Box measures
16 x 11.75 x 1 inch. An exquisite exemplar of contemporary printing.
