We
were Innocent: Eight Vignettes
By Edzia J. Goldstein. The stories that comprise this edition are
snapshots that take us from a happy, innocent childhood through
the horrors of the holocaust, and the loss of most of the author's
family, and end at the beginning of her new life in America. The
writing is sparse in style and devoid of words that cry out in anguish.
It does not seek to elicit pity, yet is profoundly moving in its
starkness, in the simple telling of story. Handset Baskerville and
16th century Roman type on Nideggen paper. A cyanotype monoprint
by Marcia Brown adorns the cover. Nonadhesive binding. Rives BFK
over boards. Signed and numbered edition of 150. (5.25 x 9 inches;
31 pp.)
