Center of Gravity
By Petra Press
Milwaukee, Wisconsin: Petra Press, 2004. One-of-a-Kind.
8.5 x 11"; 18 pages. Inkjet printed.Case bound.
Tightrope walking can be more than the circus performer high above the audience. Press researched tightrope walking in a broad sense, taking the term as a metaphor for fear- and anxiety-producing lack of balance. Many of us fear falling – off the wagon, into the proverbial abyss, as well as from a physical height. Center of Gravity, with Press's handwritten notes overprinted with manipulated photos and found images, is its own dizzying performance.
