Eurydice
Unbound
By Patrick E. White.
Relief prints by John Talleur. Eurydice uses her wits to elicit
Hades' sense of justice and prudence. With his help, she eludes
Orpheus' notice and returns. The book, like the mythic-life itself,
traces the paths of Orpheus and Eurydice on their circuitous journeys.
The text and prints are a response to their serpentine meanderings.
We exchange hero for heroine as the book transforms the familiar
story into a trophy to Eurydice's triumph and to that of her contemporary
sisters. Designed for those "who take delight in both reading
and looking," this large-format edition features vibrant prints
that run behind and around the text. Printed on Hosho paper backed
by Kochi, it is presented partially bound in four, accordion-fold
signatures that each measure 10 feet in length unfolded. Landscape
orientation. Wrapped in a blue and yellow handmade paper folder
and housed in a yellow and grey clamshell box. Edition of 25 signed
by author and artist.
